Celebrating Our Past, Imagining Our Future

The Saskatchewan Library Association (SLA) invites you to celebrate Saskatchewan Library Week. The theme for this year’s festivities is Saskatchewan Libraries – Celebrating Our Past – Imagining Our Future.

From October 15 to 21, Saskatchewan Library Week will focus on the important contributions that libraries have made to literacy, education, and quality of life in our province.

We will also look forward and imagine a future where libraries combine the best traditional approaches and innovative technology to positively contribute to our communities.

During Saskatchewan Library Week, bring a friend and share the treasures your local library has to offer.

Author and photographer, Thelma Pepper is the official patron for Saskatchewan Library Week. Thelma will be presenting a talk and photographic exhibition at Saskatoon Central Library, Friday October 19, 2012 at 2pm. A second display of her work will be hosted by Regina Public Library.

To add to the weeklong excitement, Regina’s favourite indie-rock band the LIBRARY VOICES have also come on board to participate in Saskatchewan Library Week.

Enter the 2012 My Favourite Book Contest, presented by SLA and proudly sponsored by CBC. This year, the contest is getting a fabulous new look and offering you the option to enter online. Check out our new blog and online entry forms at myfavouritebook.ca.

The contest blog will feature inspirational and exceptional submissions from this year’s contest as well as articles of interest profiling some of the Saskatchewan Library Week events throughout the province.

Contest details are also available by visiting 2012 Saskatchewan Library Week at www.saskla.ca.
