Regina Public Library begins search for 2017-18 Writer in Residence

Regina Public Library (RPL) is inviting applications from writers across Canada for the position of Writer In Residence (WIR). The successful candidate will provide aspiring writers with the opportunity to receive guidance and advice from an established Canadian writer.

From August 30, 2017 to May 30, 2018, the successful candidate will spend at least 40 per cent of his/her time working with Regina Public Library to schedule and deliver individual  consultations, community/school visits, and group workshops and seminars. Up to 60 per cent of his/her time will be devoted to personal writing projects.

The program is an investment in the community at large, and will provide many benefits and networking opportunities – not only to RPL patrons but to businesses, community organizations and schools.

Applications for the residency must be received by April 10, 2017. More information on the eligibility criteria and submission guidelines is available at: http://www.reginalibrary.ca/about/wir.html.

Regina Public Library was the first public library in Canada to offer a Writer in Residence program in 1978. Since then it has welcomed 27 additional residencies to provide services to the local writing community.
