Dunlop Art Gallery is thrilled to host 2017 Sobey Art Award nominee Bridget Moser’s first solo gallery exhibition, Every Room is a Waiting Room. A Toronto-based performance and video artist, Moser’s unique practice is suspended between performance art, prop comedy, and intuitive dance. Darkly humorous and absurd, Moser both entertains and unsettles. Every Room is a Waiting Room features a live opening night performance and videos featuring the artist manipulating an assortment of objects united by their pink-and-blue colour palette. These shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity, were named Pantone’s 2016’s Color of the Year. Pantone states that the choice reflects desires for “connection and wellness” and creates “a soothing sense of order and peace.” But Moser uses these pastel-hued objects, along with language, her body, and a host of pop culture references to create a sense of loneliness, frustration and longing. In doing so, she subtly questions the systems that manufacture consumer desire.

Media are invited to schedule an interview with Bridget Moser on Wednesday, November 1, or Thursday, November 2. Every Room is a Waiting Room opens on Friday, November 3, at 7:00 pm at Central Gallery with a reception and live performance by the artist. Dunlop Art Gallery and New Dance Horizons are pleased to host an artist talk by Bridget Moser on Saturday, November 4, at 2:00 pm at New Dance Horizons. The artist talk will feature live excerpts from Moser’s performances Hold Please (2014), A Leaf That Tastes Like a Pencil (2015), and Season of the Witch (2016).
