In early November 2017, the Hudson Bay Public Library hosted its first free workshop in the Financial Literacy Series, Each One | Teach One: Introduction to Basic Banking. The event was such a success, patrons requested the informative series continue. As a result, the second workshop, Credit Cards & Prepaid Cards, was offered in early December 2017.
Building on information provided in the first workshop, the second dealt with issues such as the advantages and disadvantages of credit and prepaid cards, important things to look for in a prepaid card agreement, and how to figure the real cost of using credit and prepaid cards.
Instructor C. Hedstrom led the session, leaving lots of time for questions and discussion. Class members left feeling informed and armed with knowledge for use in future financial planning.
The library will continue to host Each One | Teach One workshops. The next session, Identity Theft & Fraud Prevention, is planned for February 7, 2018 when an RCMP officer will also be in attendance to answer questions. Those interested may sign up at the library.
