RPL hosts expert panel to discuss legalization of cannabis
For Immediate Release: April 9, 2018
RPL hosts expert panel to discuss legalization of cannabis.
At the end of the summer, Regina will see a bigger change than yellowing leaves and shortening days. After a lengthy process, cannabis will be legalized, and Saskatchewan plans to issue 60 permits to private suppliers throughout the province.
How will this change affect the province? Regina Public Library dives into the debate with a provoking Hot Topics, taking place at 7:00 pm on April 10 at the RPL Film Theatre.
Hot Topics is a monthly panel discussion series hosted by RPL the first Tuesday of each month. It features exciting conversations about current events and relevant issues, led by guest speakers from the community. Topics and speakers are announced one week in advance of each event.
On April 10, RPL will host panelists Perry Masters, self-employed construction worker and medical marijuana user, Bob Hawkins, Regina City Councillor, Dr. Senthil Damodharan, Psychiatrist, and Kelly Csada, owner of cannabis dispensary Kelz. This group of experts will discuss cannabis and its evolution from illicit drug to sanctioned medication, and finally to legal recreational substance, and how this evolution will impact our community.
“Hot Topics does not shy away from difficult discussions, and the legalization of cannabis is certainly an important topic that will affect many in our community,” says Jennifer Matotek, Director/Curator of Dunlop Art Gallery. “We are committed to providing a space in which these topics can be debated.”
Hot Topics takes place at 7:00 pm the first Tuesday of every month at the RPL Film Theatre. The panel discussion will be live streamed on the RPL Facebook page.
