June was celebration month at the Marcelin Public Library as it observed both its 50th anniversary and the opening of a newly renovated facility expansion.
Opened in the spring of 1968, the library was established in space added on to the Marcelin Town Office building to specifically accommodate the library. The Town Office recently moved to a new location, and reallocated its portion of the building to the library, more than doubling available space. The new space houses an expanded children's section, with activity tables and a cozy reading nook.
Marcelin and Wapiti celebrated the official anniversary and expansion grand opening on June 21, 2018. Members of the Wapiti Regional Office team, including Regional Director Tony Murphy, joined in the festivities and visited with local library board members and library patrons while exploring the new space.
Marcelin Library board members and staff prepared and served an outdoor supper complete with celebratory cake and ice cream.
Patrons and staff alike are excited about the expansion that will enhance and uphold the library's long tradition of providing services to the community and surrounding area.
