Jack Pierce

SASKATCHEWAN LIBRARY TRUSTEES' ASSOCIATION

Honorary Life Membership
In Recognition of

Jack Pierce

In 1973 Jack Pierce was elected to the position of Chairman of the Humboldt Library Board, a position he held until 1983. Jack was the driving force behind the Humboldt Library and worked to successfully convince the Humboldt council to vitalize the Board by appointing additional members.

Jack was extremely devoted to the library and spent many years fighting for a new location for the library. He was also very interested in children's services and built shelves and put up bulletin boards in addition to his many other responsibilities as a trustee.

In 1973 Jack was also elected to the executive of the Wapiti Regional Library Board. He acted as Vice Chairman of that board from 1977 to 1983.

Jack's dedication to libraries was obvious not only in his own region, but provincially and nationally as well. From 1979 to 1981 Jack was active on the Saskatchewan Library Trustees' Association (SLTA) executive as its President. He also represented SLTA on the Canadian Library Trustees' Association national executive during his years as President of SLTA.

In 1983 Jack retired from active library trustee service in Saskatchewan and moved to the greener pastures of British Columbia.

We are happy to pay tribute to the contribution made by Jack through the years by honoring him with this Saskatchewan Library Trustees' Association Honorary Life Membership Award.
