Recently, the Hudson Bay Public Library initiated a new type of book club and it's all about cookbooks, cooking, and tasting.
When the club meets, members first share food and recipes. After browsing cookbooks, each person picks a theme for the next month's meeting. The themes are written down, then placed in a hat. The theme that is drawn determines what food will be prepared for fine dining at the next meeting.
January's theme was appetizers (enthusiastic consumers report them as "delicious".) The theme for February will be Lentils and beans, hearty dishes for a chilly Saskatchewan winter.
The club plans on compiling a cookbook at year's end. Copies will be sold as a library fundraiser.
